At JoverValls, we mainly work with two major families in this section:

Lacquered tempered glass
Mirror, both in its normal and aged versions

Each of these solutions responds to a different need and provides its own visual language. Lacquered tempered glass offers a cleaner, more homogeneous, and sophisticated interpretation. Mirror, on the other hand, provides depth, reflection, and a more decorative dimension, which can range from a neutral finish to an aged effect with more personality.

Lacquered Tempered Glass

Lacquered tempered glass is one of the most versatile and resistant solutions in the collection. It is a glass subjected to a thermal tempering treatment that increases its resistance to impacts, stress, and temperature changes, making it a particularly suitable material for heavily used furniture.

Unlike other more delicate coatings, tempered glass offers a firm, uniform, and highly stable surface. Its lacquered finish also allows for the incorporation of color with great aesthetic precision, resulting in clean, contemporary, and visually well-balanced pieces.

The shift to lacquered tempered glass represents a step forward in our constant pursuit of material excellence. Until recently, our aesthetic choice for work surfaces was laminate, a material that effectively served its purpose. However, we have decided to evolve towards this new solution because we believe that JoverValls furniture must meet current demands, and lacquered glass provides technical and sensory values that elevate the overall piece.

Compared to the classic laminate solution, this new material responds to a more sophisticated design vision and offers very clear benefits:

The abrasion resistance of lacquered tempered glass,
along with the demanding nature of its certifications, makes it a particularly interesting material for interior furniture where an elegant surface is sought, but one that is also demanding in terms of performance.

Certifications and benefits

Lacquered tempered glass has a series of requirements and certifications that reinforce its suitability for use in furniture:

Air quality: GREENGUARD Gold certification, which guarantees very low emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Abrasion resistance: compliance with the UNE-EN 438-2 standard, a reference for the highest European requirements.
Emission safety: CDPH V1.2-2017 standard, which ensures the absence of formaldehyde.
Structural safety: high impact
tolerance, which prevents chipping and brittle fracture typical of traditional
glass.

These features make lacquered tempered glass a more complete, more stable, and more suitable solution for furniture that combines design and real use.

WHY WE'VE SWITCHED TO LACQUERED TEMPERED GLASS

The incorporation of lacquered tempered glass responds to the desire to further elevate the perceived quality of the furniture and to offer a surface with improved technical and aesthetic performance. Compared to traditional materials like Formica, tempered glass provides greater abrasion resistance, better response to use, and a cleaner, more refined visual presence.

Furthermore, its performance in terms of safety, emissions, and structural stability makes it an especially suitable solution for high-end contemporary furniture. The result is a material that not only decorates but also protects, resists, and reinforces the identity of the collection.

Mirrors

Mirrors are another key material in the collection due to their ability to visually enlarge spaces, reflect light, and provide a sense of depth and lightness. Within this family, it is important to distinguish between:

Standard mirror
Antiqued mirror

Each one corresponds to a different finish and aesthetic intention.

Normal

The normal mirror offers a clear, clean, and precise image. It is the most neutral option in the range, and therefore works very well when seeking an elegant yet discreet presence.

Its main virtue is its ability to reflect without altering, providing brightness and a sense of spaciousness to the furniture or space in which it is integrated. Within the collection, the normal mirror can function as a contrasting surface against warmer or more tactile materials, such as leather or metal.

Aged

Aged mirror introduces a more decorative, rich, and atmospheric reading. Unlike a normal mirror, its surface incorporates variations, nuances, and a certain visual character that give it depth and a more unique aesthetic.

This type of mirror conveys a sense of a crafted piece, closer to an interior design object than a purely functional surface. Its appearance is ideal for projects where one wishes to introduce a note of sophistication, nostalgia, or artisanal character.

Types of Aged Mirrors

The handcrafted antique mirror features a more manual finish, with a unique presence in each piece. Its aesthetic is usually more organic, with natural variations that reinforce the idea of a hand-worked surface and a non-repeatable result.

The industrial aged mirror offers a more homogeneous and controlled reading of the same aged effect. It is a more regular and technical solution, ideal when reproducibility, consistency, and a more stable aged aesthetic between pieces are sought.
